Spring and the beginning of summer really flew by, I just a few days ago realized that we were soon about to enter August already. I’ve told myself after this summer that I will make a recurring note in May that June will be very hectic and that I don’t really need to book things. It was hard enough to keep up with my training pace this year.
But here we are! So what has happened these last few months? Family wise we’ve spent a lot of time together, really trying to get the most out of the days with each others. In Sweden, warm sunny days can stay for months or just only for a single week. So this year we’ve made sure to catch as many as we can!

I’ve been working a lot with basic training, nei gong, forms, weapons, applications, indoor stuff and everything that I’ve felt for. Not forcing a specific routine or program. I’ve been reading a few books related to our style and history, some of them I’ve read before and some of them have been new journeys that filled some gaps that I didn’t know I had. There is so much history connected to what we do, and to get some background stories and anecdotes makes it even more of a privilege to practice. And specific movements has been passed on for so long and that someone else, thousands of years ago, took the same breaths and did the same things that I do now is actually mind boggling.
We’ve had multiple camps here in Örebro. We’ve hosted and participated both the Swedish Kung Fu & Wushu Federations national camp in May with special guests all the way from China and the Swedish Tai Chi Chuan Associations yearly summer camp that was ongoing for 5 days in the beginning of July. Very successful camps with many inspiring practitioners and teachers.

Going forward I am now focusing on getting ready for competitions in the autumn and winter. Prioritizing competition training and allocating my training time differently according to. Strengthening, conditioning and skills is what’s on the weekly schedule. Going great if I may say so myself. Coming up is the 9th Baltic Open Championships in Riga in October and the 7th Nordic Open Championships in Stockholm in December. I feel so pumped already and I’ve never been in a better physical and mental state than I am now! Feels great!
Vacation are still ongoing but when things are back in routine again there will be more weekly content, posts and insights during this journey. I’ll see you in the woods or on the mat!
